The never ending debate concerning churches paying taxes has been ignited again as the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has openly declared its desire to retrieve all royalties owed from churches for the use of their songs during worship.
Whiles answering a question from a participant at a media workshop organised by the music body as to why churches don’t pay royalties, chairman of GHAMRO, Rex Omar revealed his outfits intentions to retrieve their due stating “We are putting in place the necessary measures to let churches pay royalties because they also use musicians’ intellectual property”.
This he says will further enrich the Ghanaian musician.
Rex Omar’s administration has resolved to fight against piracy and improve the livelihood of musicians by making sure that the Ghanaian musician benefits from all of their intellectual properties.
